How to Brush Your Pet's Teeth
DAILY BRUSHING is easiest if it is done in conjunction with an activity your pet loves to do (something
besides eating). What daily activity do you do with your pet that you both enjoy? You should make teeth brushing
a part of your “ fun activity. ”
- Every day just before you start the “ fun activity” with your pet quickly and briefly LIFT YOUR PET'S
LIP AND LOOK AT HIS/HER TEETH. Then continue on to the “ fun activity” as though nothing had happened.
Continue to do this daily until your pet gets used to your new interest in his/her teeth and no longer acts concerned.
Move on to the next step when your pet has become comfortable with having his/her teeth inspected.
- Every day just before you start the “ fun activity” quickly and briefly lift your pet's lip and TOUCH
HIS/HER TOOTH (a canine tooth). Again, continue on to the “ fun activity” as though nothing had happened.
Continue doing this daily until your pet no longer objects and is used to it. Then move on to the next step.
- Every day just before you start the “ fun activity” quickly and briefly lift your pet's lip and RUB YOUR
FINGER ACROSS HIS/HER TEETH from canine to cheek. Continue on to the “ fun activity” as though nothing
had happened. Move on to the next step when your pet is relaxed.
- Invest in a finger brush for small dogs and cats, or a child's soft toothbrush
for medium to large dogs, and a tube of C.E.T. Pet Toothpaste. Begin brushing your pet's teeth daily.
- Toothbrush should be replaced every 3-4 months.
